Set among scenic limestone cliffs along the Gardon River, Collias is a perfect base for your family sport climbing holiday.
With good climbing conditions in mid-season and winter, Collias boasts a host of small crags with a wide range of grades (2a -8b) in an idyllic setting. The main routes, located in two areas upstream and downstream of the village bridge, are located at the end of very easy short riverside approaches.
Within around half an hour by car, the golden tufa of Russan and Seynes offer a host of challenging cragging routes for all skill levels, from technical slabs to overhanging walls.

France’s Grimper magazine also provides a very useful review of Collias (French only) for family climbing: “With its grandiose natural setting, on-site river bathing, peaceful riverside atmosphere and mostly not-too steep 5th and 6th grade routes, Collias is ideal for climbing with the family – especially the Orion section, with its easy routes, fairly wide ledge at the cliff foot and, a little higher up, routes from 5c to 7b for parents.”
